Our guests this week are Coach Ryan Shimabukuro from US Speed Skating and two-time Olympian Sadie Maubet-Bjornsen from the sport of cross-country skiing.

Coach Shimabukuro was the US Olympic Long Track Speed Skating coach in 2006, 2010 and 2014. He has coached numerous Olympians including Gold Medalists Joey Cheek and Shani Davis. After stepping away from the US Speed Skating National Team in 2014, he recently returned as the Head Coach of the program heading into the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. I got so much out of this interview. Coach Shimabukuro is thoughtful, generous and warm. His passion for his sport and compassion for his athletes as people comes through in this interview.

Sadie Maubet-Bjornsen is a two-time Olympian in the sport of cross-country skiing. She has been on the US national team for 9 years and finished the 2018 World Cup season ranked 6th in the World. She is also the only female US skier to wear the Yellow Jersey as the world cup points leader. Sadie is really thoughtful and her answers are honest. If you don’t already have a favorite cross-country skier that you root for, you will after listening to this interview.

Right now, I’ve interviewed dozens of coaches, athletes and subject matter experts for this podcast. These interviews stand out to me as two of my favorites. There are so many useful nuggets of information in these conversations, I am excited to share them with you.
